Read about an entrepreneur who has made an impact on people's lives in Sacramento, CA You lose a family member or friend to cancer? I sure did, and I went through this numerous times in the past with both sides of my family. Do you ever wonder how you can make a difference to those who are suffering cancer?

Meet Andreea Luca. She has made a huge impact on people here in Sacramento; Ca. Andreea has joined a team to help fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The team has a goal to reach and that is to raise at least $36,300.00 for the Society. So far the team has raised over 13,700. Wow good job guys!! Keep up the great work.

I asked Andreea how she was inspired to start her own fundraising for the Lymphoma and leukemia Society. She replied, “I started this project because I’m at a point in my life where I need to surround myself by amazing people and this opportunity presented itself through my office. Our CEO offered us a great chance to participate in Team in Training and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Although I am not personally affected by a blood cancer, I do have a grandmother battling brain tumors and I am certain every single person has at least one friend or family member who has been touched my cancer. Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are just a couple options for people who are interested in getting involved in raising money for cancer research.”

Andreea is working really hard on this project as she is training for 13 miles marathon! Phewwww… That is a long run.

She explained, “The training aspect was daunting because although I’ve always been a long distance walker, I’ve never been a runner and to sign up for a half-marathon (that’s 13.1 miles!) Scared me. I did read somewhere that if you are not scared, you are not challenging yourself and living to your full potential. So here I am, training for my first half-marathon coming up on June 2nd in San Diego.”   “As for the fundraising, that was the easy part for me. I’ve held several board positions for various organizations in high school, college and while living abroad in Europe so I understand the politics, psychology and sociology behind fundraising. I pledged to raise the minimum of $2800 but still have goals to go above and beyond that minimum. I’m currently at about $2000. Hopefully through another couple large-scale fundraisers in April, I will be way above my goal before the deadline in May! Yes we do hope you make your goals and we want you to succeed in this adventure of yours.”
