Waffles topped with a blueberry & raspberry sauce
I woke up this morning and decided to make this awesome recipe. I digged out my breakfast recipes and I came up with a cool sauce to top these great waffles with. Get creative and have fun with this.
Waffles & Berry Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
3 egg yolks- beaten
1 2/3 cups of milk
2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 1/4 tsps. Of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of melted butter and some for your pan
3 egg whites beaten to form stiff peaks
Sauce-
1/2 cup of blueberries
1/2 cup of raspberries
3 tablespoons of honey
1/4 cup of orange juice
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
Directions:
In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks and milk. Sift all the dry ingredients together.
Then add to your egg yolk mixture. Stir in the butter, and and set bowl aside for about 30 minutes.
Preheat a lightly greased waffle iron.
Fold egg whites into the mixture. Scoop portions of the mixture into the prepared waffle iron, and cook until golden brown.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix berries, honey and your orange and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Mix the vanilla and corn starch together, and whisk into the pan. Stir constantly. Then serve warm on top of waffles.
*You can make crème fresh or add whip cream to the top and sprinkle some cinnamon on top as well. Kali Orexi!
