I need a strong Greek coffee!!

Happy Monday to everyone! Can you believe it is almost September? This summer went by super fast. I don’t know about everyone else, but as I get older the years go by fast.

I started missing the Greek coffee this morning when I went to Starbucks and felt like their coffee wasn’t strong at all. πŸ™ So, I wanted to share my favorite Greek coffee with you and a recipe for it. What is your favorite coffee? Thoughts & Comments?

How you make a good Greek coffee!

Greek Coffee Recipe-

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • Greek Coffee
  • Granulated Sugar

Directions:

Fill a briki with as many cups of cold water, as cups of coffee that you want to make. Add one heaping teaspoon of the Greek coffee per a 2 ounce cup of coffee. Add in granulated sugar to your taste. (We Greeks like to use this list below.)

– Greek verbage for Greek coffee-

  • Sketo- Plain without sugar
  • Metrios- Medium sweet
  • Glykos- Sweet
  • Vari Glykos- Extra sweet

(I love my Greek coffee as glykos.)

Place briki over medium heat and stir to incorporate the grounds. As the coffee heats, the foam will rise. Be sure to hold on to the handle of the briki to keep it from falling over. When the foam reaches the top, remove the briki from the heat and let it stand until the grounds have settled. Pour into coffee cups and serve with ice water.

– Cheers!

  1. Hi! This is exactly my favorite Greek coffee quality; in the green bag (not the blue one).
I prepare it as you described, but when the foam reaches the top, I remove the briki from the heat, wait some seconds wish shortly, I heat it again until the froam reaches the top again (this nees only some seconds) and I continue as you described.

    • Hi!! Thank you for stopping by. I actually tried the new white one and love it!! I will get the name of it tomorrow. Thanks for giving me ur input on the coffee. πŸ™‚ I love Greek coffee, and it makes me miss living in Greece.
