SATURDAY’S FOOD FOR THOUGHT: EGG WHITES

I am wishing everyone a lovely weekend, and a happy Saturday!

What are your Saturday plans? Today I went grocery shopping with one of my food buddies, and we discovered some new chocolate at Whole Foods. I love Whole Foods, but they are too darn pricey! I do recommend their semi sweet chocolate chips.

I am planning Valentine’s Day for my Etsy Shop, and soon you will see some yummy truffles. I haven’t revealed the kinds yet, but nutella is involved! 🙂

Saturday’s Food For Thought: Egg Whites

Egg whites have become very popular these days due to their high protein and low cholesterol content.

Just one cup of egg whites offer 26 grams of protein.

Egg whites are very versatile in cooking.

Egg whites contain these essential minerals:

  •  Potassium
  • Magnesium
  •  Calcium
  •  Phosphorus
  • Copper
  • Zinc
  • Iron

Due to the eggs offering a high protein content, egg whites are recommended to chemotherapy and renal patients. Not only due egg whites have all of these essential minerals, but they are used for medicinal reasons as well. Treating broken bones and wounds in the Medieval times.

Considering the nutritional value egg whites offer, next time you are at your local grocery store why not pick up some egg whites. Easy to cook with, and high in protein.

  1. Interesting and enlightening post, Krystina! I love egg whites and often have white omeletes. It was funny to read that egg whites were used for broken bones. I know that is how it was in Greece, many years back, but did not know this was the practice everywhere.
    Have a great Sunday! :)xx
