  1. I think that the Sunday table was the one that I remember fondly. It usually had pork steak with fried potatoes and tzatziki. But it didn’t have so much to do with the food, but with the calm feeling of the family sitting together around the table. And I think that I started appreciating the cooking of my mother, retrospectively, once I figured out how much time she had to spend preparing some dishes. Because it is easy to make pasta, mashed potatoes, french fries, a steak, chicken etc. But try to prepare mousaka, stuffed cabbage leaves, (I could eat them all the time), Stifado rabbit…

    • Yes Sunday’s in my family I remember my father making a huge breakfast, which included omeleta, patates, then we had a huge barbecue. 🙂 🙂 Yes cooking Greek food takes a lot of time. I have experienced that many times, but that is why I try to create recipes that are done in 30 minutes or less.
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, and do you mind me sharing this to my Facebook page?

      • By all means! Go ahead! It has always been me belief that getting together for food was more than just food. Ancient Greeks had the famous Symposiums (which means drinking together, really) which were a chance to get into long and interesting philosophical talks! So every lunch or dinner around the same table is in a way, a means to communicate with people. Before the “let’s go for a coffee” days, we used to say “let’s eat together”.

      • Yes I agree with you. I remember my dad explaining to me about the Ancient Greeks, and what they use to do around the dinner table. The good old days right Vassilis? 🙂 Thx for sharing, and I will share your comments on my Fb page tonight.
