The Green Machine Smoothie

The two-part segment in November Superfood day 6 is here! I am bringing this tasty and healthy green smoothie to the table. Whenever I feel that I need a good kick of green in my diet, I make this. Spinach is my superfood ingredient and it is a favorite of mine.

 

The benefits of spinach are many but here are a few I can name.

Keeps your heart healthy. Spinach has omega 3 fatty acids, and that helps keep the lipid levels going good.

It boosts bone health. Spinach is packed with calcium, and therefore it helps strengthen your bones.

A good source of fiber. Just 1 cup of spinach offers 4.3 grams of fiber.

Keeping your nails and hair healthy. Spinach is packed with vitamins A & C.

The Green Machine Smoothie Recipe

Power up with this easy and healthy green smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 1/4 cup diced mango/ pineapple
  • 2 cups spinach, washed
  • 1 frozen banana, peeled
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Directions:

  1. In a blender add all ingredients until combined.
  2. Pour this delicious smoothie over ice, and enjoy!
