Holiday Mediterranean Skewers Recipe

Holiday Mediterranean Skewers
Welcome to Day #8 of the Twelve Days of Christmas Meze! Today’s recipe is a festive and effortless meze that’s sure to impress your guests this holiday season. The hardest part? Simply gathering the ingredients!
Why make these? They’re the perfect blend of elegance and ease, bursting with Mediterranean flavors that feel right at home on your Christmas table.
This versatile dish is ideal for the season of giving. You can serve it in two ways: arrange the ingredients in a wreath shape for a stunning centerpiece or add it to a charcuterie board to elevate your holiday spread. Either way, it’s a crowd-pleaser that looks as good as it tastes!
I used the following ingredients for the skewers:
- BelGioioso fresh mozzarella mini balls (not a sponsored post)
- Handful of fresh basil
- Grape tomatoes
- Sliced salami or prosciutto
- Artichokes, quartered
- A mix of Mediterranean olives
- Wooden skewers
- Equipment: Either a large round plate or a medium-sized wooden charcuterie board
Mediterranean Skewer Wreath Recipe
Servings: 12 skewers
A festive and delicious appetizer perfect for gatherings. Enjoy day 8 of the Twelve Days of Christmas Meze.
Ingredients:
- 6 grape tomatoes- halved
- 12 mozzarella mini balls
- 12 slices of salami
- 1 can of artichoke hearts, drained and quartered
- 24 sprigs of fresh basil, medium size leaves
- 12 Mediterranean olives
- 12 wooden skewers
- Balsamic glaze (optional)
Method:
- Prepare your skewers: Thread the ingredients onto skewers, alternating between tomatoes, mozzarella, salami, artichoke hearts, basil leaves, and olives. Leave a small gap at the end of each skewer for easy handling.
- Assemble the wreath: Arrange the skewers in a circular pattern on a large platter, resembling a wreath. I like to add a fresh sprig of rosemary in between the skewers.
- Add the finishing touches: You can place your favorite dip inside the center of the wreath if you like.
- Serve: Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
Tips:
- For a more visually appealing wreath, consider the color combination of the ingredients.
- Marinate the artichoke hearts in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs for added flavor.
- For a vegan option, substitute the salami with vegan pepperoni or marinated vegetables.
- Add these Mediterranean skewers to your favorite charcuterie board.
Enjoy this delightful Mediterranean skewer wreath with your favorite dips and spreads!
