Are you ready for some serious flavor? This creamy, garlicky tzatziki is the perfect dip for pita, gyros, or veggies! Just be warned—you might want to keep some breath mints handy. Our recipe is packed with flavor, especially the garlicky flavor! Enjoy tzatziki dip exactly how it is made in Greece!
Tzatziki Tips:
✔ Use thick Greek yogurt for the best consistency.
✔ Let the minced garlic sit in the yogurt for a bit to enhance the flavor.
✔ Always remove cucumber seeds to avoid a watery dip.
✔ Lemon or lime? Your choice! We prefer lemon of course!
Tzatziki Dip Recipe
Servings: 4-6
Ingredients:
- 1 large cucumber, seeds removed and grated
- 1 1/2 cups of plain Greek yogurt (we love the Fage brand)
- 2 large cloves of garlic, grated
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1 pinch of fresh dill
- 1/2 lemon, reserve the juice
- 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
- Kalamata olives to serve
Method:
- In a medium bowl add the yogurt and garlic together. Chill in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
- Prepare your cucumber, and do not forget to remove the seeds! Grate the cucumber and add it to a strainer, make sure to strain out all the juice. (I use my hands to squeeze out the excess liquid)
- Remove the yogurt and garlic mix to a large bowl. Mix in the vinegar, salt, oregano, dill, olive oil, and lime juice. Once that is combined, add the grated cucumber. Mix all ingredients and chill overnight. Drizzle olive oil over the top, and add a few Kalamata olives, too!
- Serve with fresh pita bread, and veggies, or make a gyro! The perfect dip for anything!
Tips:
- If you want a more acidic tasty tzatziki add the apple cider vinegar + lemon juice.
- I love the aromas of dill in my tzatziki, so feel free to add more if you like!
- The more garlic the better in my opinion.
- Keep in mind tzatziki dip is always better after it has been in the refrigerator chilling overnight.
- Pair this dip with our FLUFFY pita bread recipe!

Well as you should know many places all over Greece make tzatziki different. This is a Greek version not Cypriot just to clarify. You can’t claim what a traditional recipe is when you don’t know what region this recipe is coming from. Thank you,
Chef Krystina
