Whole Baked Sea Bream with Citrus Yuzu Sauce Recipe

Happy Fall to you! September 23rd marks the official day of Fall.

It’s been a while since I posted any recipes, and I’m sorry for the delay. My life went upside down in some ways and I’m trying to get back on my two feet.

To celebrate fall I figured why not share a delicious fish recipe. If you love sea bream and citrus, this recipe is definitely for you!

First let’s chat about Yuzu sauce. What is Yuzu?

Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit. In Japanese cuisine Yuzu sauce is very common especially in sushi, soups, and fish dishes.

Whole Baked Sea Bream with Citrus Yuzu Sauce Recipe

Servings: 2

Fish Ingredients:

  • 1 whole sea bream (cleaned and gutted)
  • 3-4 lemongrass stalks, cut in half
  • 3 stalks of green onions, roughly chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, halved
  • 3 slices of lemon
  • Salt & cracked pepper
  • 1 handful of Thai basil
  • Drizzle of olive oil inside and outside of the fish

Yuzu Citrus Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of Yuzu sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 pinch of salt

Sauce Method:

In a medium bowl whisk together all the ingredients until combined. Set aside.

Fish Method:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Wash the sea bream inside and out and then pat dry. Salt and pepper on both sides of the fish.

Place the fish on baking parchment paper.

Stuff the inside of the fish with lemon slices, lemongrass, garlic cloves, and green onions. Season with salt and pepper. Drizzle olive oil inside the fish. Then drizzle olive oil over the fish. Place Thai basil over the fish and bake inside the center rack of the oven. Bake for 25 minutes. Once the fish is done baking, remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.

When ready to serve, place sauce over the fish.
