Boyfriend Smoothie
Happy Friday foodies! On today’s post, I will be sharing a NEW smoothie recipe, along with a funny and inspirational story about how my boyfriend decided to “go green.” Sort of green, shall I say. 🙂
We have been together a little over 5 years, and in that time frame up until a few weeks ago he didn’t care for anything green. I am talking the healthy stuff! (Vegetables, salad, legumes, and so on.) He is the hamburger, pizza, chicken nuggets type of guy. On occasion, he would have his green apples and carrots but nothing more. Anytime I would mention a smoothie to him, he was like NO WAY! My favorite vegetable is spinach, if you can’t tell from my posts. Time after time, I said to him, “hey try this, or taste this”. He would look at me like no freaking way, I prefer my IN & OUT hamburger.
A few weeks ago, something changed! It was like one day he woke up and said, GO GREEN MAN! I think I was in shock when I found him in the kitchen with the bullet machine going full blast making a smoothie. I said to him, “um is that for me”?? He said no, with a smirk on his face. He purchased organic blueberries, organic power greens, and vanilla protein whey powder from Costco. Here is the funniest part. He had no idea what blueberries tasted like or power greens! (“Krystina, what is chard, and kale”???) I remember asking him, “do you like blueberries? What made you buy those instead of mixed berries or any other fruit”? He said “well, they don’t really taste like anything, so it’s fine”. HA! There you have it, non green fans. Try out the boyfriend smoothie. Did I mention he lost weight, and he said that he never felt better in his life. He typically has 1 smoothie a day as a meal replacement. He still enjoys his hamburgers, and pasta but I definitely noticed a big difference in his overall appearance.
Thank you to my boyfriend for being my biggest fan on Kouzounas Kitchen, and for allowing me to post about his new journey. 🙂
